Yuvak Tuladhar, a Bay Area artist, has been painting for over 35 years. His formal training led to an MFA in Painting from Benares Hindu University, India and an MFA in Fiber Arts from Savannah College of Art & Design, Savannah, GA. He has had over a dozen one man art shows and has participated in numerous group art exhibitions. He had a show in Palace of Fine Arts, San Francisco in September 2011. He has also been the recipient of various prestigious awards and recognitions, including a Fulbright-Hayes Scholarship.

According to him, “Images of gods, deities have been a source of inspiration for my art. They are my window through which I seek wisdom from the past. When I paint these images I am transported back in time to this amazing land of beauty and mystery. The natural aging process, created by the sun, wind, rain and heat on these sculptures makes me aware of the power of the environment. I enjoy the evidence of wear and tear, the discoloration made by nature and by people touching an object over and over for hundreds or thousands of years. My journey has many dimensions and yet I have limited myself to expressing it in two dimensions through my paintings. I aim to inspire the feelings or convey a message through these old figures.”

Currently, he has changed the theme of his paintings. Officially, it all started on April 11, 2012. Below is a status he posted on his Facebook page that day.

“I have lived in America for almost 20 years and have been in illusion that the things are getting better for people of all races. I went and bought a 'Vogue' magazine and decided to breakdown all the faces printed inthe magazine by race. We have a Black president yet in Vogue April publication I see 392 Caucasian faces, 33 Black faces, 15 Hispanic faces (7 of them are of Je Lo), and paltry 8 Asian faces (which included Nepali fashion designer Prabal Gurung). China is going to be the biggest consumer of luxury goods soon. I see a disconnect between demographic of the consumers and the people who control media and fashion. If you are not Caucasian think twice before buying any luxury items. Only you can change this by acting and sharing. I am outraged!!! I still love people of all races though!!!”

Now his work is about social commentary and more. He wants to go beyond Buddha’s and Nepali theme.

Rajendra KC

Mr. Rajendra KC is a one of the best Nepalese fine artists who is currently residing in Falls Church, Virginia. He mostly does landscape painting and has done numerous solo and group exhibitions in Nepal and recently in USA.

“Rajendra has a great passion for nature. His sky, trees, hills, terrace, brooks are always treated diligently and delicately. His transparent but solid hues and tones are mind blowing. His colors are quite charming. A viewer not only enjoys Rajendra’s works with eyes but one can also smell the air in his paintings.”-Shashi Bikram Shah, Sirjana College of Fine Arts

“Nature is vividly portrayed in Rajendra KC’s paintings. He is an ardent lover of nature. In his works the mountains, terrains, rivers, fields are always beautifully executed. The transparency of colors in his landscapes gives soothing effect to eyes. His works successfully maintain the standard of water color paintings through his different experimental techniques. -Kiran Manandhar, Artist/Painter

“Rajendra is primarily known for his water color landscapes – mostly depictive the pristine countryside of Nepal. Rajendra’s ability to capture the mood and environment of the given spot has remained his main forte. He is so adept in its treatment and fully aware of the transparent quality of the medium. Rajendra KC is an outstanding example of this genre.” -Manan Chitrakar, Artist/Arts Writer
